To date, approximately 50 sites have been registered, most of which have engravings and other paintings. The records of the places have been made through photographs, maps, plans and drawings of each one, as is the case of Yaguacire, in the Department of Francisco Morazan.

The site with rupestrian graphic representations is a whole, composed of the continent and the content and not simply a random juxtaposition of images. Each site and graphic must be considered as an organized element with a specific spatial disposition and shape, in a specific region and environment. The support is essential: the natural form, the disposition, conformation and orientation of the rock must be analyzed, they can be suggestive elements for man, the same as other visual and spatial effects. That is why we can affirm that these rupestrian manifestations have an accentuated relation with the conception of the universe of the group.

A territorial delimitation has also been made in order to establish a zoning for documentation and to ensure the protection of seven of the most important rock art sites in the central, central-western and central-eastern areas of the country. These sites were submitted for a declaration as Cultural Heritage by UNESCO: The sites are: Yaguacire,

Ayasta and Santa Rosa, located in the Department of Francisco Morazan; La Pintada de Azacualpa-Santa Elena, located in the Department of La Paz; Oropoli, Oreali and Moroceli located in the Department of El Paraiso; Cuevas de Tenampua in Comayagua. The main objective of this stage was to put together a file for each site, so they could be declared as Cultural Heritage of Honduras and thus ensure that the Honduran State and people protect and maintain them.

As a result of the materials (origin of raw materials and coloring agents), production techniques, iconographic diversity, and date problems, they were grouped into three circuits: The Wester Circuit, the Francisco Morazan Circuit and the South Circuit, which include the departments of El Paraiso and Choluteca. Of course, there is more.
