The groups that inhabited what is known today as Central America left testimony of ceremonial manifestations with scenic character. Drama, dance and music were used as a rite; many of these ceremonies have been documented and have become cultural patrimonies of the region, among them is the ''Rabinal Achi'' a dramatic work of the Mayan-Quiche peoples located in Guatemala also including Copan, the banks of the Ulua and Tenampua rivers.
The Rabinal Achi dramatizes the myths of the Q'eqch people and the conflicts between the peoples of Rabinal, Baja Verapaz and Guatemala. This work was transcribed by Frenchman Charles Etienne Brasseur de Bourbourg, and is the most complete manifestation of theatre found in Central America.
