Tiburcio Carias Andino is probably the most studied president of the twentieth century, in addition to being the president who held on to power for the longest time and who many yearn to revive in order to bring order to the many problems of insecurity that we Hondurans face.

The first four years cannot be included in the dictatorship, since he was elected in a constitutional manner, and won a presidential election; the dictatorial period begins when, through Legislative Decree number 26 of January 1936, a Constituent Assembly is convened in order to reform the 1924 Constitution, with the purpose of extending the presidential period from 4 to 6 years, and later another decree 202 that marked the end of the presidential period of Carias until January 1943. And there is another decree Nº 16 of November 18, 1939, ratified by the decree of December 7, 1940 modifying the year of the transfer of power from 1943 to 1949.
