TOPIC 2. LIBERAL REFORM, CARIAS DICTATORSHIP, MODERNIZATION OF THE NATIONAL STATE AND MILITARY GOVERNMENTS

Introduction                  

This historical process would cover the last quarter of the century, including the first years of the next century (20th century). It is observed that the liberal republicanism of federalist trend will become oligarchic, conservative and centralist republicanism, in an ideological framework characterized by the scientist positivism, and in a context of economic modernization and reinsertion of the region in the world economy.
